Pump Bag

love this colourful fabric Freddric from IKEA. I'm making a pump bag for my duffle bag.

Measuring 60cm by 40cm complete I need a piece of fabric cut twice this width with added 2cm for the seam allowance.

The bottom of the bag needs 1cm seam allowance bs I have added another 5 for the casing at the top.

Turn over 1 at the top edge, press down and sew. For a neat opening for the cord, I have turned over the top 9cm of the sides by 1cm.

Fold the top sewn edge over by another 4cm and sew right along the sewing line you made earlier.

Fold the fabric along the length and sew an 'L' shape along the bottom, starting at the fold, turning at the corner and sewing along to the top of the casing. You must stop before you get to the casing.

Snip off the corners, cutting close to the sewing line. This takes away bulky fabric when you flip the bag right side out.

Flip the bag the right way out.  Thread the rope through the casing.

Tie a strong knot at the ends or sew together with a tab as I did with the duffle bag. This will prevent the rope unthreading back through.
